House Rules

Hot tub: Please shower before using the hot tub to rinse off lotions, shampoos, oils, and other products. These substances can cloud the water and affect the hot tub’s performance. Do not wear the same swimsuit in the hot tub that was used in the river—algae can transfer easily and contaminate the water, requiring a full drain and deep cleaning. FOR THIS YOU MAY NEED TO BRING TWO SWIMSUITS OR WASH YOUR OTHER. If the hot tub becomes contaminated and needs to be fully drained and scrubbed, a $500 cleaning fee will be charged. No parties or events are allowed on the property at any time. Maximum occupancy: No more than 6 overnight guests, and no more than 10 people total during the day. Quiet Hours: Please respect our neighbors by keeping noise to a minimum between 12 AM and 7 AM. No shoes inside the house. Flip-flops, slippers, or socks are fine. No smoking anywhere on the premises. The surrounding wooded area poses a fire risk. Occupancy limits: The property may not be used by more than the number of adults and children listed in your reservation. No pets on furniture, please. Water conservation: Please be mindful of your water usage—California is currently in a drought. Recycle & compost when receptacles are provided. Turn off lights, TV, heaters, and stove when not in use to save energy. Store or dispose of food properly: Please consume or remove any leftover food. Do not leave uncovered food out on the counters or patio, as it may attract pests or rodents. No commercial photography or filming is allowed on the property. Toilet use: Only toilet paper should be flushed—no wipes, floss, tampons, etc., as we have a septic system. TICKS: Important Note About Local Wildlife: While our property offers beautiful, natural surroundings, we want to inform guests that ticks are present in the area, especially in wooded or grassy areas. To ensure your safety, we recommend wearing long sleeves and pants when hiking or walking through the woods. We also suggest checking yourself and pets for ticks after outdoor activities. Damage liability: The renter is responsible for any damage to the property and agrees to cover any repair costs charged to the card on file. Utility costs: For stays of 30 days or more, if electricity and gas exceed $200 or water and trash exceed $100, you will be asked to cover the difference. Reduce energy costs by turning off lights and appliances when not in use. In winter, we wear layers to keep heating costs low. My friends and I stay here for 3 nights and we absolutely loved it. The house was clean, very well-stocked and everything (kitchenware, beddings, etc) was high quality. The private trail and private beach access were a great plus. We really enjoyed our stay there!

Easily one of the best AirBNB's we've stayed in. Pictures do a pretty good job, but it's even more impressive in person. Super clean and the whole place feels new and updated. We'll absolutely be back!

Stunning location and unique house. Loved our quick getaway here, all the amenities as listed and it was so peaceful. Read the instructions carefully to find the driveway entrance as it’s easy to miss it the first time, and there is nature all around as mentioned multiple times in the listing. If you have a dog, recommend to leash outside the house since there is wildlife all around.

Jesse gave us great instructions on how to get to the house. It’s a beautiful home that is secluded and great for quiet evenings after a hike, or a trip to the beach. We had our dog with us, and there were soft blankets for him to lay on. There is a great binder with house rules and recommendations for local restaurants and activities (we went to River’s End!). It was so relaxing to soak in the hot tub to wind down. The bed was very comfortable, as was the tv room upstairs. We highly suggest getting up a little early to watch the small flock of turkeys graze in the front yard. Overall a wonderful experience!

The Octagon House is a unique and gorgeous getaway. We were so comfortable because of the cozy beds, great kitchen, even heated floors. Lots of birdwatching- We had morning coffee with the swallows on the porch then sat in the hot tub to watch the wild turkeys. Just when we thought the view couldn’t get any prettier, the fog started rolling in over the nearby hills. So relaxing, secluded, and peaceful.
