Good to know

Redwood boughs frame every window, the forest holds a hush that city life can't replicate, and a 1906 cabin with story in every floorboard is waiting to pull you in. Whether it's your first visit to Sonoma County's western hills or a return to somewhere that already feels like yours, Occidental offers the kind of stillness that actually sticks.   Living space Inside, open beam ceilings and warm wood interiors set the scene. The vintage stone fireplace is the natural gathering point - light it in the evening, settle into the living room, and let the hours slow down. A slightly uneven floor here, a charming antique stove there: the quirks are part of what makes this place feel genuinely historic rather than manufactured. The living room is large enough to read in, talk in, or simply do nothing in.   Sleeping arrangements Two bedrooms sleep up to 4 guests across 3 beds. Room sizes are cozy, in keeping with the cabin's original 1906 character, so pack light and lean into the snugness.   Kitchen & dining The upper-level kitchen is equipped with cooking basics, a coffee maker, and a breakfast nook that earns its keep on slow mornings. A dining table provides a proper sit-down meal space when you're ready for it.   Bathroom The main bathroom includes a bathtub and a hair dryer. An additional outdoor toilet and shower are also available - a nod to the cabin's adventurous spirit. A washer and dryer sit on the back deck for guest use.   Outdoor & extras The spacious deck is set up for outdoor dining and lounge time beneath the trees - a natural spot for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine as the forest settles around you. Free off-street parking accommodates up to 3 vehicles. Privacy fencing gives the property a genuine sense of seclusion.   Location The cabin sits a short drive from the charming villages of Occidental and the surrounding Sonoma County towns, with local restaurants, bakeries, and hiking close at hand. The shaded forest setting keeps the interior naturally cool even in summer, and while WiFi is available, signal speed reflects the remote location - fine for streaming and email, less suited to back-to-back video calls.   Good to know There is no air conditioning; fans are provided for warmer days. As a forest property, the occasional critter or pine needle is part of the package - regular pest control is maintained. The antique stove adds character and works well with a little patience. Please note: the hot tub is not available until July.   NOTE: HOT TUB NOT AVAIL UNTIL JULY

Other Details to Note

This is a vintage cabin built in 1906, so you may notice a few quirks here and there—slightly uneven floors, cozy room sizes, and a charming (but old) stove that takes a little patience. We think it adds to the magic, but want you to be comfy and informed! There is no air conditioning. The cabin stays relatively cool thanks to the forest setting and shaded deck, but we provide fans for warmer days. We’re in the forest! Expect the occasional critter or pine needle—nature is part of the charm. We have regular pest control and do our best to keep everything tidy. WiFi is available, but due to the remote setting, speeds can vary. Great for streaming and email—maybe not ideal for multiple Zoom meetings. We love this little place and hope you will too. If you ever have questions before booking, feel free to reach out! Pets: We allow 1 dog under 60lbs or 2 under 40lbs but we would like to ensure that all guests are safe so if you bring your dog, please be respectful and do not allow them on the furniture, pick up their waste from the yard, do not leave them alone in the house without supervision. Due to our dog visiting the home and one of us having allergies, we do not allow cats or any other animal in the house, thank you for understanding. PLEASE NOTE: Host truck is parked inside the fence 🚗 Camp Meeker roads are narrow and may require careful maneuvering, especially if another car is approaching. Please drive slowly and carefully. 🎵 Amplified music is prohibited outdoors at all times. Sonoma County quiet hours are strictly enforced between 9pm-7am. Please be respectful of our neighbors. Fires are not allowed April to the end of October due to both the heightened risk of wildfires & spare the air days. If you need heat indoors please use the heater. During the winter (November to the end of March), we’re happy to provide firewood and kindling for your stay. We kindly ask that it be enjoyed thoughtfully so all guests can continue to enjoy it. If you’d like more, additional firewood is available at Gonnella’s Country Mart. Most of all, enjoy Camp Meeker!

We were immediately at home and this magical cabin. It was clean and comfortable, historic and full of interesting art. We had a great time lounging around, and enjoy taking road trips to the coast to surf or eat out. A wonderful long weekend getaway that we hope to do again sometime.

Loved my weekend getaway here. Very spacious and private. Beautiful spot under the redwoods in Occidental. Love the energy of the home as well as the thoughtful everyday cooking ingredients available to guests. I didn’t have a chance to use the jacuzzi or outdoor shower, but I’m sure those amenities are amazing in the summertime for beautiful outdoor evening hangs.

Esperamos volver!

This is such a special cabin nestled into the hills and encircled by stunning redwoods. It is a homey, comfy refuge with everything you could need and more. It's actually quite spacious with a full kitchen and dining table and lovely living room. The beds are super comfortable. Water pressure is great. There is an added enclosed porch perfect for practicing yoga (which I enjoyed) or getting a little space to yourself. The area is beyond beautiful, and this cabin lands you in a perfect spot not far from the coast or other nearby towns to explore. And the host could not have been better. Grateful for my stay!

Super charming and cozy cabin tucked back in the redwoods. Very short drives to Monte Rio, Guerneville, Occidental, and Duncan Mills, plus near Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. The hot tub and outdoor shower are great, especially after a day out hiking!
